Learn More About VoiceStick

What is VoiceStick™?

VoiceStick™ is the world’s easiest Internet phone service. It allows you to use any computer in the world to make and receive calls AND allows you to use any phone you wish - to take advantage of your VoiceStick™ calling plan.
Find out how - see i2Bridge™ and Global Call Forwarding.

Also see – How Do I Install VoiceStick.

The VoiceStick™, itself, is a patent-pending proprietary device of i2Telecom. It is a USB Memory Stick that not only turns any computer anywhere in the world into your phone, it also allows you to store massive amounts of personal data, music, pictures, presentations, etc.

Your VoiceStick™ number follows you around the world – whether you carry your Stick with you or whether you forward your VoiceStick™ number to any number in the world! See Global Call Forwarding.

And, unlike mobile phones, your rates stay the same no matter where you are! How is that possible? The VoiceStick™ system is set up to charge rates as if you were calling from the USA – no matter where on earth you actually are! So a call from Hong Kong to London costs the same low rate as a call from Chicago to London – because all calls from a VoiceStick™ phone actually originate from the USA.

And the best part is . . . it’s so ridiculously inexpensive! Imagine calling around the world, as often as you wish for such a low price.

What is VOIP?

VoIP (or Voice over Internet Protocol) is a great way to make and receive phone calls using your broadband Internet connection instead of your phone line. VoiceStick™ simply converts your phone calls into data, which then travels through your Internet connection. You won’t notice any difference from a normal phone call, except that it’s more convenient.

Does VoiceStick™ work like a regular phone?

You can call any phone and receive calls from any phone number.
(the sound quality depends on the speed of your network and the headset)

There are four ways to use the VoiceStick™ service:

  1. SoftPhone – The SoftPhone allows you to make and receive calls from anywhere in the world from your computer.
  2. VoiceStick™ – The VoiceStick™ USB device lets you take your VoiceStick™ service with you. All you need to get going is a broadband connection and a USB port.
  3. Mobile Phone – Use VoiceStick’s i2Bridge™ technology to bill long distance calls through VoiceStick™ instead of your mobile phone.
  4. Regular Phone – Use i2Bridge™ on your regular phone also. Additionally, Global Call Forwarding allows you to forward your VoiceStick™ calls to any phone in the world.

How good is the call quality?

When you make a call directly from one VoiceStick™ to another, you will probably experience better clarity than on an ordinary telephone call. Because with digital technology, there’s no static or noise. When you call from a VoiceStick™ to a standard phone, the clarity will be similar to a traditional phone call.
Top of Page

Can I receive calls on my VoiceStick?

Yes. You can receive calls from any phone service in the World as well as another VoiceStick.

You can also forward any call to your VoiceStick™ number to any number in the world. See Global Call Forwarding

Will VoiceStick™ replace my mobile phone?

Not entirely.

When traveling internationally, you’ll always want to use the VoiceStick™ because mobile phone plans don’t offer unlimited international calls, leaving you stuck with crazy per minute rate charges. Also, by using VoiceStick’s Global Call Forwarding feature, you can forward all calls to a number where you can be reached anywhere in the world, which is all included in your VoiceStick™ calling plan.

If you’re calling internationally from the US on your cell phone, you can benefit by using the VoiceStick™ i2Bridge™ feature which links your mobile phone to your VoiceStick™ calling plan. So while a 20 minute call to Italy is included with the VoiceStick™ Unlimited Global Plan, it could cost over $7.00 with a typical cell phone plan.

You can buy VoiceStick™ on this site or at these other fine retail establishments:

Can I call 411 or a 555-1212 number for directory assistance?

No. Please use your home, business or mobile phone for directory assistance.

Calls NOT included in the Unlimited Global Plan.

With the Unlimited Global plan, you can reach hundreds of cities worldwide from anywhere for only 24.99. Not all cities in the world are included, however. Please check THE LIST OF INCLUDED CITIES to ensure the places you call are included. If those places are not included, please check our INTERNATIONAL RATES page to discover our low, low rates around the world.

All phone numbers may not be covered in the Unlimited Global Plan even though it appears that the number you’re calling should be covered. There are typically two reasons for this. First, most telephone companies (outside the USA and Canada) charge extra "to the caller" for mobile/cellular calls and various so-called "special services." We cannot, therefore, guarantee that every number will be covered in our "unlimited global" calling Plan. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Service.

International Mobile Numbers

Most International mobile phone companies still charge a fee to call Mobile Numbers outside the US.

Enter the Mobile number you wish to call in the input form on our International Mobile Rates page to see the exact per minute cost of a call to that number.

If you believe that you may be calling international mobile phones, please pre-pay.

Special Services Calling

“Special Services” is an international catch-all phrase that describes any type of call you make that requires connection charges beyond an ordinary home or business land-line phone. The most typical examples are Freephone (the international version of 1-800 numbers), shared-cost numbers, or calls to rural areas that require satellite transmission to complete. These types of calls typically cost about the same as mobile calls. You will need to add funds to your account in order to call these numbers. How do I pre-pay?

DID (Direct Inward Dialing)

A telephone number that is part of the North American Numbering Plan. Your DID allows your VoiceStick account to receive calls from any landline or cellular telephone in the world and allows you to utilize such VoiceStick features as Global Call Forwarding and the i2Bridge.

USF - Universal Service Fund

Universal Service Fund supports programs for high cost companies serving rural areas, low-income consumers, rural health care providers, and schools and libraries. The Universal Service Fund helps provide communities across the country with affordable telecommunications services. This is a subsidy imposed on carriers by regulators and carriers are obligated to collect and pay.

E911

Enhanced 911 or E911 service is a North American telephone network (NANP) feature of the 911 emergency-calling system that automatically associates a physical address with the calling party's telephone number as required by the Wireless Communications and Public Safety Act of 1999. This is generally done by a form of reverse telephone directory that is supplied by the telephone company as a computer file, used to associate the caller's phone number with a physical street address. It provides emergency responders with the location of the emergency without the person calling for help having to provide it. This is often useful in times of fires, break-ins, kidnapping, and other events where communicating one's location is difficult or impossible.

The system only works in North America if the emergency telephone number 911 is called. Calls made to other telephone numbers, even though they may be listed as an emergency telephone number, may not permit this feature to function correctly.

How do I pay for my VoiceStick?

There are two steps in our billing process.

1. Choose your plan

Once you select your calling plan, you will be billed automatically at the specified rate.

2. Additional Minutes

Currently, any call that falls outside of your calling plan requires a pre-payment. For example, international calls for the VS Unlimited USA and Canada plan will require pre-payment. To pre-pay for these calls, simply go to My Account and find the Add Funds section. Enter the amount you want to add to your account. Your account balance will be increased immediately.

When you approach your limit, you will hear a warning tone during your call. This means you should add funds to your calling account right away. If you exceed your allotted minutes, you will no longer be able to place calls outside of your calling plan until you add funds to your account (but you can still receive calls from other VoiceStick™ customers).

Coming Soon

Shortly, we will eliminate the pre-pay system and simply bill you monthly for all calls outside your plan.

Do I have to pre-pay for any calls?

It depends.

1. If you choose the VS Basic USA and Canada - $.99 plan, no minutes are included in your plan. Hence, you will have to pre-pay for all of your calls. How do I pre-pay?

2. If you choose the VS 400 USA and Canada - $9.99 plan, you will only have to pre-pay for any calls beyond the 400 minutes per month and/or any international calling. How do I pre-pay?

3. If you choose the VS Unlimited USA and Canada - $19.99 plan, you will only have to pre-pay for any international calls. How do I pre-pay?

4. If you choose the VS Unlimited Global - $24.99 plan, you will only have to pre-pay for any international calls that fall outside the countries and cities included in the plan. How do I pre-pay?

5. International Mobile Numbers
Outside the USA and Canada many countries charge the person making a call to a mobile phone. While VoiceStick offers no additional charge to call mobile phones in the USA/Canada, international mobile phone companies still charge a fee. See International Mobile Rates.

If you believe that you may be calling international mobile phones, please pre-pay. How do I pre-pay?

6. Special Services
Special Services is an international catch-all phrase that describes any type of call that has a higher associated cost than a home or business phone (other than mobile). The most typical examples are Freephone (the international version of 1-800 numbers), shared cost numbers, or calls to rural areas that require satellite transmission to complete. These types of call typically cost about the same as mobile calls. You will need to add funds to your account in order to call these numbers. How do I pre-pay?

Any other N11 telephone number (311, 511, 611, 711 or 811) if accessible, also require pre-payment.

What happens when my account is empty?

When you are near your limit, you will hear a warning tone during a phone call. This means you should add more money to your calling account right away. If you exceed your allotted minutes, you will no longer be able to place calls until you add money to your account (but you can still receive calls from other VoiceStick™ customers).

I sometimes see ads with rates better than yours. Why?

Most low-cost long distance providers have hidden charges in their rate plans, which make their rates deceptive. There are no hidden or extra fees in our plans. Common tactics are:

  • Charging for a minimum call time (a two minute call is charged as a 15 minute call)
  • Charging a per-call connect fee, hidden taxes, fees, and "recovery" charges Refusing to give you a detailed account of all calls made and charges applied
  • Publishing off-peak rates
Top of Page

Why does it cost more to call an international mobile phone?

Outside the USA and Canada many countries charge the person making a call to a mobile phone. While VoiceStick™ offers no additional charge, beyond the normal per minute call cost, to call mobile phones, many international mobile phone companies still charge a small fee.
Top of Page

Can you explain the international rates?

Our rates are so low that we often need to represent them as far as four decimal points. For example, you may see a rate such as 0.0521 to Monaco. This means that calls to Monaco are 5.21 cents per minute.

One more example, a call to Bolivia-Cellular costs 0.1400 which equates to 14 cents per minute.

Got it? If not, please contact Customer Service for assistance.
